Mint Green Hazar Buti Jamdani

Jamdani has a name for almost everything it does, and hazar buti, "a thousand flowers," is one of its most demanding: a saree where the entire body is covered in small woven motifs rather than a printed repeat, each one added by hand during the weave itself, not after it.

This piece carries that layout in mint green, tiny diamond-shaped booti scattered evenly across the body in white, navy, and flashes of orange, dense enough to give the whole fabric a quiet shimmer without ever feeling busy. The border and pallu shift into a bolder, more architectural register, geometric zigzags and diamond forms in the same restrained palette, the kind of visual density Jamdani weavers have built their reputation on for centuries.

It's a weave that comes from Bengal specifically, historically out of Dhaka, carried forward today by weaving families in towns like Shantipur and Phulia, worked on a simple pit loom where small shuttles of coloured thread are passed through the weft by hand, saree by saree, motif by motif.

A saree built the slow way, one small woven flower at a time, until there are a thousand of them.
