Burnt Terracotta Gacchi Tussar
Gachhi Tussar carries its character from how it's made. It's spun from the shorter, textured threads left after the finer Tussar yarn is reeled away, and generations of weavers in eastern India, the Santhal and Oraon communities among them, turned that yarn into a fabric with its own identity: slubby, warm-toned, and unmistakably handmade.
This saree keeps the body deliberately simple: a solid burnt terracotta field, the natural slub texture giving the colour a soft, uneven depth rather than a flat wash, closing at the hem in a band of charcoal. It's the border and pallu that carry the statement, a bold chevron running in rust, charcoal, and stone grey, sharp and architectural against the quiet body, widening into a full zigzag field across the pallu.
It's a saree built on that same contrast the material always offers: restraint where the drape needs it, graphic energy where it doesn't.
