Raspberry Wine Pink Semi Tussar

Long before it was called paisley, it was buta, and it belonged to Kashmir's shawl weavers first. The motif's roots trace back to Persia, but it was in Mughal-era Kashmir that the shape was refined into the hooked, layered form still recognised today, worked entirely by hand into wool shawls that could take years to weave.

This pallu carries that lineage in embroidery rather than weave: dense buta motifs worked in muted jewel tones, rust, teal, gold, ranged along the base of the pallu in a horizontal band, the same hooked silhouette Kashmiri weavers spent centuries perfecting. Above it, the deep raspberry-wine field is scattered with small embroidered florals, spaced out and understated, letting the paisley band hold the visual weight.

The body itself is semi Tussar silk, textured with the fabric's natural slub and cross-hatched weave, giving the raspberry colour a warm, slightly uneven depth rather than a flat, uniform tone. A slim striped border in a darker wine runs the pallu's edge, closing out in matching tassels.

A saree carrying a motif that's outlived empires, renamed continents, and never actually left home.
